The Smaky mouse was one of the world’s earliest computer mice, developed in Switzerland by Jean-Daniel Nicoud and André Guignard for the Smaky computers at EPFL in Lausanne from the 1970s onwards.
The Smaky 100, released in 1984, is powered by a Motorola 68000 processor. Its distinctive feature was the first-ever separation of the monitor, computer and keyboard. A large proportion of the 1,500 Smaky 8s produced were used in schools in French-speaking Switzerland.
