Dial-up like 1995
Gianpaolo Del Matto / THE PHINTAGE COLLECTOR
Today we’re constantly online, but back in 1995, accessing the internet often began with a modem and a telephone number.
My exhibition ‘Dial up like it’s 1995’ shows how computers used to dial in via the telephone line back then. At its heart is a Raspberry Pi that behaves like a classic Hayes modem, enabling old computers to establish a genuine dial-up connection once again.
Try it for yourself: dial in with an old PC, listen to the sound of the modem and experience internet access just as it was 30 years ago.
I am THE PHINTAGE COLLECTOR, and this is my story!
