IMC-2001
Invasion of the Clones
The IMC-2001 is a Taiwanese computer that can be used both as an Apple ][ clone and as a CP/M machine. It dates back to 1984 and contains both a 6502 and a Z80 CPU, which share the same memory and peripherals. The computer is extremely easy to expand thanks to its open slot system. The motherboard is of the GTAC-2 (“Generic Taiwanese Apple Clone”) type, which has certainly been used in 100 different “brands“ of Apple ][ clones worldwide.
The computer has a main memory of 64 KB (with AppleSoft BASIC and the monitor program in ROM). It offers a 40×24 text mode (monochrome), a 40×48
x16 low-resolution graphics mode and a 280x192x6 high-resolution graphics mode. It can also output video via an 80×25 text Videx video term card. It is equipped with two floppy disk drives that can store 140 KB of data per floppy disk page.
Operating systems for the machine are Apple DOS 3.3, ProDOS 8, CP/M 2.2 and CPM-65 (thanks to David Given for this).
