The history of personal computers began with the introduction of the Altair 8800 in the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics. The kit presented by MITS for building your ‘own’ computer with open architecture was the starting signal for the development of the personal computer industry.
Paul Allen and Bill Gates, founders of Micro-Soft, developed their first product, the Basic interpreter, for this system.
