Network technology through the ages

Gianpaolo Del Matto

We can’t deny the importance of networks and the cloud today – but their evolution began decades ago.

My exhibits trace how computers grew from isolated machines into connected systems: from serial terminals to early Ethernet, through thin clients, file servers, and storage networks.
Each piece tells part of the story – how we learned to share data, connect people, and bring network computing to life.

You know Teams or Zoom? Experience how a video call worked in the early ’90s, or how DOS machines once synchronized through serial cables.
Try setting up PhoneNet on the Macintosh, or build your own peer-to-peer network.

I’m THE PHINTAGE COLLECTOR, and this is my story!

If you want to know how to prepare such a setup, feel free to watch me do it on my YouTube channel!
